Al Zuniga’s photography career started in 1996, in Arcadia, California, where he worked for a growing photographic retailer. It was here, he learned processing, printing, exposure, and camera operation. Realizing the restraints of on the job education and its inability to substitute formal training; in 1997, Al enrolled at Tri-Community School of Photography, in West Covina, California.
Experience came by way of photographing family, friends, a friend’s band, models, and the local arboretum. In 2000, Al began working for a portrait studio as a photographer; this afforded to him both medium format and studio experience.
In 2002, Al took a break from the photo industry to focus on his computer skills as well as digital editing.
It was in 2008, after a trip to the Calgary Zoo, Al found a renewed passion for photography.
These days, you can find Al re-inventing himself as a photographer through exploration and experimentation.
